A family's three days: written as the order of the day
Updated 20 October 2026
This letter follows a family on the 3D2N aboard Maheswari, from the night before the pickup to the car home. It names the bed plan, what to pack, and what we prepare. Children under 3 travel free, and the boat sleeps up to 20.
The night before: what we prepare
Before you board, we prepare the parts of your trip that do not depend on the sea. The cabin plan comes first: who sleeps where, and which cabin takes a third guest. We hold the cabins you asked for, pass the dietary notes to the chef, and write down the pickup hour and the flight numbers, so nothing waits for the morning.
Then the pickup. A car meets your family at your hotel or the airport at 10:00, so arrive in Labuan Bajo the day before. If the children travel on the morning of the pickup, tell us the flight number and we confirm the pickup hour.
The bring list opens with sandals or trekking shoes. After it come a backpack, emergency cash, personal medicines, sunblock and sunglasses. Give each child a small bag of their own for the walks.
The first day, from pickup to the sunset
At 10:00 you step aboard. A welcome drink is poured. The boat sails at 10:30. The plan below shows how the beds fill as the party grows. A child under 3 travels free and adds no fare.
The first stop is Kelor, a trek. Lunch comes after it, then a snorkel at Manjarite and a snack. The sails between these stops are planning ranges, not a timetable: Labuan Bajo to Kelor 50 to 70 minutes, Kelor to Manjarite 30 to 60, Manjarite to Kalong 50 to 70.
At Kalong comes the sunset. Dinner follows, and then free time. Where the boat spends the night is the captain's decision that day, taken from the weather.

Day two, with Padar before breakfast
Padar comes first on day two, before breakfast. It is a trek at first light, so decide with the ages of the children whether the whole family walks. Shoes with a grip matter more than any other item you carry.
After breakfast the boat goes to Pink Beach for a snorkel, then Komodo for a trek, with lunch between. Taka Makassar and Manta Point come in the afternoon, and dinner follows.
Life jackets are in the fare, and so is the snorkelling equipment. Give us the children's ages and heights when you book, and we check the sizes aboard with the crew.
The last day, and getting home
The third morning is short. It is a snorkel at Siaba, breakfast and an early lunch. By late morning the boat is back in Labuan Bajo. Book flights after 14:00, and the children will not have to rush the last lunch.
Below, the steps show how a booking runs, from the first message to the morning you step aboard. A deposit of 50% holds the date; the balance is paid 30 days before sailing.
Park tickets are bought online per visitor, in each visitor's own name, so send us the children's names and ages along with the adults', as soon as the date is held.

Questions a parent asks us before booking
Parents ask us the same things. A cot or a child seat is not on the boat's printed list, so it is a request: tell us the child's age and we ask the crew, with no promise. A toddler sharing a queen bed with a parent goes into the cabin plan. Wi-Fi is local only, from the crew's mobile connection. It is patchy at sea.
Meals are breakfast, lunch and dinner on trip days, with snacks, coffee, tea and mineral water, and any dietary needs go to the chef with your booking.
The guide and the photo documentation are not in a charter fare. Both are quoted separately, on request.
A note to the grandparents
A note to the grandparents. The Signature Ocean cabins are on the main deck, and they have a private balcony and room for a third guest. The upper deck holds Deluxe Ocean and Master Ocean, the lower deck Superior.
If anyone in your party finds steps difficult, tell us before you book.
The jacuzzi, the sun deck with lazy chairs and the indoor dining room are all aboard, and the dining room is where the family eats together.
FAQ
What should children bring for the Padar walk?
Shoes with a grip, a small backpack, sunblock and sunglasses. Personal medicines belong in the bag too. Mineral water is on board. Padar opens day two, before breakfast, so lay the bag out the night before.
Can a toddler sleep in a queen bed with a parent?
Give the child's age when you book, and we write the bed plan around it. A child under 3 travels free and adds no fare.
Is there a first-aid kit on board?
Yes. A first-aid kit is aboard, with a life raft, life jackets, a ring buoy and a fire extinguisher. Carry your own children's medicines, and tell us about any condition before the trip so that we pass it on to the crew.
How long is each sailing leg for children?
Day one's legs are planning ranges, not a timetable: Labuan Bajo to Kelor 50 to 70 minutes, Kelor to Manjarite 30 to 60, Manjarite to Kalong 50 to 70. The sea and the captain's decision on the day can change them.
Where do we wait for pickup on day one?
At your hotel or at the airport, at 10:00. We confirm the exact meeting point before the date. If your flight lands after 10:00, send us the flight number, and we confirm the pickup hour.
