On Maheswari, ten guests are where the whole boat becomes cheaper per person than a Master Ocean seat: IDR 5,800,000 (≈ USD 356) each against IDR 6,250,000 (≈ USD 383). It matches a Deluxe Ocean seat at 12 guests and undercuts a Superior seat from 17. Below ten, the open trip costs less.
A cabin among others, or the whole deck to yourselves
Choosing on Komodo starts with two questions: one day or overnight, and a seat or the whole phinisi. An open trip sells you a cabin on a boat that other guests share. A private charter sells you the boat. Everything else follows from that. The boat has an indoor dining room, a sun deck, private balconies on four cabins and a jacuzzi, and on a charter all of them are yours alone.
The open trip runs the 3D2N only, on Mondays and Fridays, two paying guests to a cabin. The charter runs any of four lengths, on dates you choose, for as few as 2 guests or as many as 20.

The comparison is of fares. The open trip shares the boat and the charter keeps it for your party, so a cheaper seat is not the same product as a dearer boat.

The party size where the boat undercuts the seat
The whole boat on the 3D2N costs IDR 58,000,000 (≈ USD 3,558) for up to 10 guests. Ten guests pay IDR 5,800,000 (≈ USD 356) each, which is below a Master Ocean seat at IDR 6,250,000 (≈ USD 383). At 11 guests the share is IDR 5,500,000 (≈ USD 337), below a Signature Ocean seat at IDR 5,750,000 (≈ USD 353).
At 12 guests the boat is IDR 58,000,000 (≈ USD 3,558) + 2 × IDR 2,500,000 (≈ USD 153) = IDR 63,000,000 (≈ USD 3,865). The share is IDR 5,250,000 (≈ USD 322), level with a Deluxe Ocean seat at IDR 5,250,000 (≈ USD 322). Unrounded, the two figures are exactly equal.
From 17 guests the share falls below a Superior seat, at IDR 4,440,000 (≈ USD 272) each. At 16 it is IDR 4,560,000 (≈ USD 280), a little above. Below 10, every class of seat is cheaper per head than the boat. Twenty guests pay IDR 4,150,000 (≈ USD 255).

What each choice takes away
A seat takes something from you, and so does a boat. On the open trip you give up the deck: the dining table, the jacuzzi, the bean bags and the sound system belong to everyone aboard. The date is fixed to a Monday or a Friday, and the length to three days.
On a charter you give up the money for empty beds. Two guests on the whole boat pay IDR 29,000,000 (≈ USD 1,779) each; the same two on the open trip pay a seat each. A charter fare does not include the guide or the photo documentation; they are quoted separately, on request. The open trip includes both.
On neither do you get park tickets in the fare.
Speedboat day trips are a different product
A speedboat day trip is a different product, and we do not price one. What this boat offers is a full day on the phinisi, at IDR 40,000,000 (≈ USD 2,454) for the whole boat, flat for up to 20 guests. It reaches Padar, Pink Beach and Komodo and returns to Labuan Bajo the same day.
If time is short, a single day can be enough. The 2D1N at IDR 51,000,000 (≈ USD 3,129) adds Kelor, Manjarite, the Kalong sunset and a night aboard. The 3D2N adds Taka Makassar, Manta Point and Siaba.
The open trip begins at three days, so there is no short version of it. If you have one day, you are choosing the full-day charter.
Deciding in two minutes
Two minutes will do. Count the guests who will sleep aboard. If you are 9 or fewer, price a seat for each cabin; if 10 or more, price the whole boat as well and compare the share.
Then look at your dates. If they are not a Monday or a Friday, the open trip is closed to you. If you want the deck to your party, the charter is the only way to have it.
Last, ask what you cannot go without. The Komodo tickets are outside the fare whichever you choose. The open trip includes the guide and the photo documentation; on a charter they are quoted separately. Write to us with the head count, and we set the two prices side by side for your party.

At what party size is the whole boat cheaper than the open trip?
On the 3D2N, from 10 guests against a Master Ocean seat, from 11 against Signature Ocean, level with Deluxe Ocean at 12, and below a Superior seat from 17. At 14 guests the share is IDR 4,860,000 (≈ USD 298).
Does the open trip include a guide?
Yes. The open trip includes a local guide and the photo and video documentation of the trip. On a private charter both are quoted separately, on request.
Can I join the open trip with 8 friends?
Yes, if the dates and cabins are free: a group of 8 takes four cabins at the seat price per person. The deck is shared with other guests. Compare it with the whole boat at IDR 7,250,000 (≈ USD 445) each, and write to us for the date.
Is the charter cheaper in the low season?
The 2026 fares are the same in every month. The 3D2N for up to 10 guests is IDR 58,000,000 (≈ USD 3,558) in any month, and weather decides the stops.
What do I give up by sharing?
The deck, the dining table and the jacuzzi are shared with everyone aboard, and the dates and the length are fixed: Mondays and Fridays, three days. In return the seat price per person is lower for parties under 10.
