The first walk of the trip, or the last

On the 2D1N and the 3D2N, Kelor opens the trip. You are collected at 10:00, a welcome drink is served, the boat sails at 10:30, and after 50 to 70 minutes of sailing the Kelor trek is the first walk of the trip. Lunch and the Manjarite snorkel follow.

On the 4D3N, Kelor is the last walk. Day 4 begins with the Kelor trek, then breakfast, a snorkel at Manjarite Beach and an early lunch before the harbour.

The captain sets the order on the day, and the weather can change it.

What it is not: short steep hill, not a long trek · not a dragon site · often the last stop of a trip, so do not expect to have energy left for much more

The short climb

Kelor is a small hilly islet with a short climb to a viewpoint over the bay. The climb takes 15 to 30 minutes, the difficulty is moderate, and the path is steep and dry.

It is a short steep hill, not a long trek, and it is not a dragon site. Do not expect dragons here, and do not plan the day around anything but the view.

On the last morning of the 4D3N the climb comes after three days of walking. Take it at the pace of the slowest walker in the party.

After Kelor: Manjarite

From Kelor the boat goes on to Manjarite, a journey of 30 to 60 minutes. On day 1 lunch comes between the two, and on day 4 breakfast. The snorkel at Manjarite Beach is the next water stop.

The 4D3N last morning reads Kelor Island, then Manjarite Beach, then an early lunch. After that the boat returns to Labuan Bajo in the late morning.

Book the flight home for after 14:00, and plan it around the return and not around the island.

Shoes, water, hats

Sturdy shoes help on the steep, dry path. Kelor is a walk for trekking shoes rather than sandals, and both are on the bring list. Add a hat, sunglasses and sunblock, which the list also names.

Mineral water is included in the fare, so bring a bottle ashore. The park ticket is a separate matter. It is paid per visitor per day, at IDR 250,000 for a foreign visitor, and we mark which days of your route are park days.

Children who walk can try the hill with an adult, at their own pace.
