Splitting a Komodo charter: cost per person
Updated 20 October 2026
Split a private Komodo charter 20 ways: each pays IDR 3,300,000 (≈ USD 202) on the 2D1N, the lowest overnight cost per person, or IDR 4,150,000 (≈ USD 255) on the 3D2N. A Superior open-trip seat is IDR 4,550,000 (≈ USD 279), two sharing. The full day for 20 is IDR 2,000,000 (≈ USD 123). Park tickets are extra.
The lowest per-person figure, and how to reach it
A budget trip on this boat has two clear routes. One is a Superior seat on the open trip. The other is a full boat dividing the whole-boat price among twenty. Every other plan costs more per person at a small head count.
This page speaks to the organiser who has to defend a number. The table below gives the whole-boat figure per person for every party size from 2 to 20 on every length, and you can read your own row.
The lowest figure of all is the full day for 20 guests, at IDR 2,000,000 (≈ USD 123) each. The lowest overnight figure is the 2D1N for 20, at IDR 3,300,000 (≈ USD 202) each. The lowest on the three-day route is the 3D2N for 20, at IDR 4,150,000 (≈ USD 255).

The Superior seat, shared
A Superior seat on the open trip costs IDR 4,550,000 (≈ USD 279) per person with two sharing, and the next class, Deluxe Ocean, costs IDR 5,250,000 (≈ USD 322). The table below shows all four. The open trip is the 3D2N only and leaves on Mondays and Fridays.
You share the boat with other guests. The deck and the dining table belong to everyone aboard. The seat includes the local guide and the photo and video documentation of the trip; the park ticket is not part of the seat.
The Superior cabin is on the lower deck, with a queen bed, air conditioning and its own bathroom. If a sea view matters, say so, and we suggest the class that suits you.

Twenty guests dividing the boat
Twenty is the party that makes the whole boat cheap. On the 3D2N the arithmetic is IDR 58,000,000 (≈ USD 3,558) + 10 × IDR 2,500,000 (≈ USD 153) = IDR 83,000,000 (≈ USD 5,092), and IDR 4,150,000 (≈ USD 255) each. That is below the Superior seat in the table above. Twenty guests need all eight cabins and all four extra beds.
The crossover is lower than twenty. The whole boat is cheaper per person than a Master Ocean seat from 10 guests, and cheaper than a Signature Ocean seat from 11. At 12 guests it matches a Deluxe Ocean seat, and from 17 guests it undercuts the Superior seat, because IDR 4,440,000 (≈ USD 272) each is below it.
The order of the day for twenty is the 3D2N at full pace. The cars come at 10:00 and the boat sails at 10:30; Kelor, Manjarite and the Kalong sunset fill the first afternoon. Padar opens day 2 before breakfast, then Pink Beach, Komodo, Taka Makassar and Manta Point. Siaba closes the route, and Labuan Bajo is reached by late morning. The full day for twenty is IDR 40,000,000 (≈ USD 2,454) in all, whatever the head count.
Lines that are extra in either case
No fare is the whole bill. Park tickets are extra: IDR 250,000 per day for a foreign visitor, bought online in the visitor's name. Flights, hotel nights, travel insurance and tips are extra.
On a private charter the guide and the photo or video documentation are on request and quoted separately. On the open trip they are included.
Put these lines beside the fare before you compare, and the comparison stays fair. The charter price list shows them for a private trip, and the cabins page shows the seats.
What each saving asks of the group
Each saving asks something of the group. A Superior seat shares the deck with other guests. Twenty guests fill eight cabins at once, and four of them use the extra bed. The full day starts with an early pickup and ends back in Labuan Bajo the same day.
A lower per-person figure also moves the decision to a group. Twenty people need one date, one deposit of 50% and one list of passports 7 days before sailing.
If the group is smaller, the open trip is the cheaper plan until the crossover. Read the cabins page, then send us your head count for your own figure.
FAQ
What is the cheapest way to see Padar and Komodo?
The full day, shared by as many guests as possible. It reaches Padar, Pink Beach and Komodo for IDR 40,000,000 (≈ USD 2,454) in all, so twenty guests pay IDR 2,000,000 (≈ USD 123) each. It is the longest day, and it returns to Labuan Bajo the same day.
Is 20 guests really cheaper per person?
Yes. Twenty guests on the 3D2N pay IDR 83,000,000 (≈ USD 5,092) for the boat, which is IDR 4,150,000 (≈ USD 255) each, below the Superior seat price on the cabins page. The comparison is of fare only, and the open trip shares the boat while the charter does not.
Does the full-day charter cost less per person?
Per person, yes, if the party is large. The full day is flat at IDR 40,000,000 (≈ USD 2,454) for up to 20 guests. Four guests pay IDR 10,000,000 (≈ USD 613) each and twenty pay IDR 2,000,000 (≈ USD 123) each. It skips the overnight stops and the water stops of the longer routes.
What is not in the cheapest fare?
Park tickets, flights, hotel nights, travel insurance and tips. On a charter the guide and the photo or video documentation are also extra. On the open trip they are included.
Is the Superior cabin worth it?
It is the lowest seat price, with air conditioning and its own bathroom. It sits on the lower deck without a balcony. Mention whether a sea view matters, and we suggest the class that suits you.
