Fifty-six questions about Maheswari, answered with the figure

Updated 20 October 2026

Maheswari carries up to 20 guests in 8 cabins, as a whole-boat charter or as an open-trip seat on Mondays and Fridays. Below are the answers on cabins, prices, seats, payment, meals, routes, weather and arriving, each with the figure you need to plan the trip.

What these answers rest on

Every answer rests on the boat's 2026 fares, the booking conditions on this site and the Komodo National Park rules. Where something is arranged for your party rather than fixed, such as a cabin next to another or a dish for a dietary need, the answer says how, and the detail goes into your booking.

How to ask about a date

If your question is about a date, put the date and the party size in the first line. A question about the whole boat needs the number of guests, since the price changes above 10. A question about a seat needs the cabin class and the Monday or Friday you have in mind.

Name the length of trip and say whether children are travelling, with their ages. We then reply with the fare, the free dates and a cabin plan. That first reply is the one you check against the invoice.

If you have read a figure elsewhere that differs from this page, send it to us as you found it. We compare it with the 2026 fares and tell you which one stands.

Crew, meals and children

How many crew sail with the boat?

A crew of 6, chef and boat crew, sails with every trip and is included in every fare.

Who cooks on board?

The boat's own chef, who sails on every trip and is included in every fare.

Which meals are served each day?

Breakfast, lunch and dinner on trip days, with coffee, tea, mineral water and a snack. Mention dietary needs when you book.

Can the chef cook for dietary needs?

Dietary needs go to the chef with your booking. We pass your note to the chef and write back with what the kitchen will prepare for that guest.

Can we bring our own drinks and alcohol?

Yes. Soft drinks and alcohol are yours to bring, so pack what your party likes. Mineral water, coffee and tea are included in the fare.

Do children under 3 pay?

No. Children under 3 travel free and add no fare; from 3 they count as guests. Send the ages and we confirm the head count.

Is there a cot or a child seat?

Neither is on the boat's printed list of equipment. Tell us the child's age and what you need, and we ask the crew. It is a request, not a promise, until the crew confirms it.

Months, sea and weather

Which months suit Komodo best?

April to June and October to November, when the sea is calm and the water clear. Crowds are highest in July and August, and the wet months of January and February bring the roughest sea.

When is Manta Point at its best?

From December to February and from July to September. Sightings follow the tide and the current. Manta Point is on day 2 of the 3D2N and the 4D3N.

Is the sea rough in the wet season?

In January and February it is the roughest of the year, with lower visibility. The captain decides the route on the day, and a changed route costs you nothing extra.

Does the route change with the weather?

Yes. Weather can change the itinerary. The captain sets the order of the stops each day, and Taka Makassar and Manta Point swap places when the tide asks for it.

What helps with seasickness?

Choose a calm month, April to June or October and November, and bring your own medicine. Ask your doctor before you travel, and tell us so that the crew knows.

What should I pack for the walks?

Sandals or trekking shoes, a backpack, emergency cash, personal medicines, sunblock and sunglasses. Padar needs shoes with grip, and Komodo needs closed shoes.

What time is sunrise at Padar in July?

06:18. In November it is 05:31, and the climb to the viewpoint takes 25 to 45 minutes.

Open trip seats and dates

Which days does the open trip leave?

Mondays and Fridays. We confirm your exact date and your seat on WhatsApp.

How long is the open trip?

Three days and two nights. The 3D2N route is the only one sold by the seat; the other lengths are private charters.

What does a seat cost in each cabin class?

Per person, two sharing: Superior IDR 4,550,000 (≈ USD 279), Deluxe Ocean IDR 5,250,000 (≈ USD 322), Signature Ocean IDR 5,750,000 (≈ USD 353) and Master Ocean IDR 6,250,000 (≈ USD 383). A third guest in a balcony cabin pays the extra-bed fare shown in the cabin table.

Does a seat need two paying guests?

Yes. A cabin on the open trip needs a minimum of 2 paying guests, so each seat price is per person for two sharing.

Can one person book a cabin alone?

A cabin is sold to 2 paying guests, so a guest travelling alone writes to us first, with a date. We tell you what is possible on that departure before any deposit is paid.

When is my seat confirmed?

On WhatsApp. The message names the exact date and the cabin class, and it is the first thing you keep.

What does the open trip include?

The air-conditioned cabin, breakfast, lunch and dinner, coffee, tea and mineral water, snacks, life jackets, snorkelling gear, the shared deck, a local guide and the photo and video documentation of the trip. Park tickets are not included.

Can I pay the balance on the departure day?

Yes. The standard terms stay the same: a 50% deposit confirms the date and the balance is due 30 days before departure, but you may also pay the balance in Labuan Bajo on the departure day, in cash or by card on the EDC machine. Card payment link 3%, PayPal 7.2%, EDC 3%; your issuing bank may add its own charges.

Party size and the cabins

How many guests can sleep aboard Maheswari?

Up to 20. Eight cabins hold 16 guests on queen beds, and four extra beds bring the total to 20. No trip carries more, and that includes the full day.

How are the 16 and the 20 counted?

Eight cabins at two guests each make 16 on queen beds. The four cabins with a private balcony each take a third guest on an extra bed, so 16 plus 4 makes 20. A party of 18 uses two of the balcony cabins in that way.

Which cabins take a third guest?

Signature Ocean on the main deck and Master Ocean on the upper deck, each with an extra bed. Superior and Deluxe Ocean take two.

How many cabins have a private balcony?

Four: two Signature Ocean cabins on the main deck and two Master Ocean cabins on the upper deck. Superior and Deluxe Ocean have no balcony.

Does every cabin have its own bathroom?

Yes. All 8 cabins have air conditioning and their own bathroom.

Which deck are the Superior cabins on?

The lower deck. Signature Ocean is on the main deck, and Deluxe Ocean and Master Ocean are on the upper deck. We name classes and decks and never cabin numbers.

Can we ask for cabins next to each other?

You can ask, and we pass the request to the boat. No deck plan is printed, so we cannot promise neighbouring cabins. A particular deck follows from the cabin class you choose.

Paying, changing, cancelling

How much is the deposit?

50% of the fare confirms the booking. A booking made within 30 days of sailing is paid in full at once, and prices include 11% VAT.

When is the balance due?

30 days before departure. We send the balance request in good time, and the invoice names the boat, the dates, the head count and the lines that are included.

What is refunded if I cancel 60 days before?

50% of what you paid, when you cancel 60 days or more before departure.

What is refunded if I cancel 30 days before?

From 59 down to 30 days before departure, 25% is refunded. With fewer than 30 days, nothing is returned, which is why travel insurance is worth buying.

Can we change the date?

Yes, subject to availability. A move 30 days or more before departure costs nothing, from 29 down to 14 days it costs IDR 500,000, and with 13 days or fewer it counts as a cancellation.

What happens if Maheswari cannot sail?

We offer a boat of equal or higher class on the same dates at no extra cost. If that is not possible, you receive a full refund within 14 days.

Which payment methods do you accept?

Bank transfer in rupiah and a card payment link, plus Wise, Revolut, PayPal, QRIS and Alipay. WeChat Pay runs through a payment partner. PayPal carries a fee of 7.2%, and the invoice shows any fee.

Routes and the order of the day

What time is pickup on a multi-day trip?

Where does the boat spend the night?

That depends on the weather and on the captain's decision that day.

Is there Wi-Fi on board?

Local Wi-Fi only, from the crew's mobile connection. There is no satellite internet, so plan for messages rather than calls.

What time do we reach Labuan Bajo on the last day?

Back in Labuan Bajo in the late morning of the last day of a 3D2N or 4D3N. Book your flight home for after 14:00.

Tickets, flights and arriving

When do I buy the park ticket?

Tickets are bought online, one per visitor, with the name and passport number. Send us the names and passport details at least 7 days before sailing, and we tell you who buys each ticket and when.

Which flight time is safe for the last day?

After 14:00. On a 3D2N or 4D3N the boat is back in Labuan Bajo in the late morning. The full day and the 2D1N end on the day itself, so fly the next day.

Is the airport pickup included?

On a private charter, yes: hotel and airport pickup in Labuan Bajo is free, at 10:00 for multi-day trips and earlier for the full day, at an hour confirmed in writing. On the open trip the hour is also 10:00, and we confirm with your seat how the pickup works.

Which hotel should we book the night before?

One near the harbour. Meruorah Komodo Labuan Bajo is about 2 minutes away by car, and Komodo Lodge about 5. Crowne Plaza Labuan Bajo by IHG sits beside the airport, about 10 minutes out.

Is travel insurance included?

No. Travel insurance is outside every fare. We strongly advise a policy that covers cancellation, medical evacuation and belongings.

Do you arrange the hotel night in Labuan Bajo?

Yes, at the partner hotels on the hotels page. The hotel confirms the rate for your dates, and we pass it on with your booking.

Whole-boat prices

What does the whole boat cost for 10 guests or fewer?

On the 2026 fares the whole boat for up to 10 guests is IDR 51,000,000 (≈ USD 3,129) for the 2D1N, IDR 58,000,000 (≈ USD 3,558) for the 3D2N and IDR 67,000,000 (≈ USD 4,110) for the 4D3N. The full day is IDR 40,000,000 (≈ USD 2,454) for up to 20 guests.

What does each extra guest cost beyond 10?

Each guest above 10 adds IDR 1,500,000 (≈ USD 92) on the 2D1N, IDR 2,500,000 (≈ USD 153) on the 3D2N and IDR 3,500,000 (≈ USD 215) on the 4D3N. The full day has no extra-guest step, because its price covers 1 to 20 guests.

What does the whole boat cost per person for 14 guests?

On the 3D2N, 14 guests pay IDR 58,000,000 (≈ USD 3,558) + 4 × IDR 2,500,000 (≈ USD 153) = IDR 68,000,000 (≈ USD 4,172) for the boat. That is IDR 4,860,000 (≈ USD 298) each, before the park ticket, a guide and documentation.

Is the full-day price the same for 2 guests and for 20?

Yes. The full day is flat at IDR 40,000,000 (≈ USD 2,454) for 1 to 20 guests. Two guests pay IDR 20,000,000 (≈ USD 1,227) each, and twenty pay IDR 2,000,000 (≈ USD 123) each.

Are the guide and the photo documentation in the charter fare?

They sit outside it. On a private charter a guide and photo or video documentation are extra services, quoted for your dates when you ask.

Are park tickets in the fare?

No. Park tickets are bought online, one per visitor and in the visitor's own name, at IDR 250,000 for a foreign visitor, IDR 50,000 for an Indonesian on weekdays and IDR 75,000 at weekends. KEXI's park package covers the government entrance ticket (PP 36/2024), the ranger and the local levies, and it comes on top of the boat price unless your written quote lists it as included.

Do the 2026 fares apply to 2027?

The 2026 fares apply until the 2027 fares are issued. Open-trip dates for 2027 follow the pattern of Mondays and Fridays, and a private charter can be reserved for any 2027 date. If a fare changes before your balance is due, we tell you first and you can cancel without charge.

How much are the Komodo National Park fees with KEXI?

KEXI quotes the park as one package per guest: 3D2N: IDR 650,000 per foreign guest, IDR 350,000 per Indonesian guest; 4D3N: IDR 750,000 per foreign guest, IDR 350,000 per Indonesian guest. It bundles the government entrance ticket (IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per day, PP 36/2024) with the ranger fee and local levies, and is paid on top of the boat price unless your quote says it is included.
